Does EDIG have any close competitors?

Not to my knowledge. What EDIG has is an operating system for
compact digital devices called the MicroOS file management
system. Looks as though it will be made the industry standard
that makes these digital devices communicate with the embedded
microprocessor much more efficiently saving memory etc. LU
has already adopted it for their EPAC compression technology
using TXN's brand new DSP's. Intel and IBM are in the mix too
and may also adopt the MicroOS. Lanier has already done so, in
fact we are about to ship their hand held digital recorder that
has tts/stt capabilities and interfaces with a PC and/or the
internet. I am now thinking even MP3 will adopt it if they want
to change their compression for their music player using a secure
format. Most everyone will want to comply with the RIAA/SDMI
standards IMO if they are to survive. The big music companies will
never allow their clients (musicians on contract) to release
recordings on an unprotected format. This is JMHO but I've bet
the house on it.

Cheers.
