Cable vs. ADSL. I checked into Cox @ Home and BellSouth ADSL in New Orleans and ADSL has the following advantages.
1. With ADSL from BellSouth, I can continue to use their regular dial in internet # for my office laptop. Cox@Home has no local dial in #. So I would have to pay $500+ to have my office wired for cable and pay for a second cable modem at my office.

2. BellSouth has local dial in internet #'s in most big towns in their service area for roaming. Also they have a 1 888 # @ 10 cents a minute from anywhere in the U.S. Cox has no local dial in numbers for roaming, AND they charge 15 cents/minute for their 1 888 #. Plus there is a $15 setup charge to use this roaming #.

3. When it rains hard here, the cable invariably goes out for 30-45 minutes which is not good if you're trading stocks.

I think the cable modem is $10/month cheaper, but BellSouth ADSL offers more and better options for me.

PLUS, I get my TV service from BellSouth Entertainment, the only wireless TV here. This could offer wireless internet a la Teligent.
