Seagate Tech Boosts Buyback Plan By 25M More Shares

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (Dow Jones)--Seagate Technology Inc.'s (SEG) board approved the buyback of an added 25 million common shares.

In a press release Tuesday, Seagate said it will buy back the shares in the open market.

As of May 3, Seagate repurchased nearly 30 million common shares for $931 million under its previous authorization.

At March 31, Seagate had about 243.9 million shares outstanding. The company's New York Stock Exchange-listed shares closed Monday at 29 1/4.

Seagate researches, develops and makes disc and tape storage devices, magnetic recording heads and media, precision motors, microelectronics, data access and management software.
