Re: Nadim's RB Post Last Week... Nadim posted a directory for MyPublish.com that I think "we" weren't supposed to see. Among other items, it included the mugs and shirts stuff with the auspicious "We're Back" artwork. But, two other items caught my attention on this list... MyDonate... and PeerReview. MyDonate, by the way, is a domain owned by Wave Systems. Does this mean that Wave is going to enable secure, convenient political and charitable donations? Or, more filigreed than that thought and less likely, will it allow folks to sell content whose sales price is donated to charitable organizations? Or, what? And what of PeerReview? "Peer Review" is a very specific term drawn from academic and scientific journals. When a journal is "peer reviewed" it means, self-evidently enough, that its content has been reviewed by other academes or researchers before publishing. Sometimes, there is a small fee paid to these reviewers. Or is peer review, in this case, meant to imply that MyPublish will offer reviews of content from folks who have purchased... sort of endorsements or "movie-style" reviews? I ask these questions in the context of WAVX's avowed commitment to the EDUCATION and ENTERTAINMENT markets... which would seem to point PeerReview in some academic or research direction. I also place these questions in the context of WAVX's Gilder-described work with Harvard Medical Libraries. Is it possible that rather than a formally peer-reviewed publication that academic peers could post their reviews and comments about published content... and be compensated by way of microtransactions? Or is there a way to sort of reverse the transaction flow... filling my little WAVX account with ducats in exchange for my expert opinions? Oh, well, these two bits intrigue me. Best Regards, c m
