>>BTW, I have never heard about the JAZ having anything like COD, and I wouldn't expect it to, since it is a removable hard disk, using completely different technology/mechanism, I figure.<<

My only experience with a Jaz was with a Jaz1 and a 3-pack of Jaz disks. I Copied files to the first disk, no problem. I inserted the 2nd disk, and a horrible grinding sound emanated from the drive. I quickly removed it and tried it again. The horrible grinding sound returned. I tried the third disk and it worked. I copied more files over. I tried the second disk again and it sounded like it was being put through a blender.

I have no idea if the other Jaz disks were readable at a later date or not. All I know is that out of 3 disks, one sounded like my coffee grinder, and I was unable to finish a complete backup of my work that day. A 33% failure rate and faulty products the first time I use them are unacceptable to me, sorry.

Iomega is not on my recommended list.
