As long as there are other suitors, and it seems as though there are, Phillips is gone, unless they come back with a higher bid. I believe Phillips has the right to do that once the BOD announces another bid.

I'm sure looking forward to this coming week. If I go to sleep now, will tomorrow come sooner?

I kind of think that Phillips is still undervaluing VLSI. Their stock ROSE on the news and most buyouts, the buyers' stocks go down on the news.

I wonder if other companies will offer more now that Phillips has finally increased their offer? Rumors speak of three other suitors. I'm sure that the biggest advantage for the BOD of the new Phillips offer was that PHG will stop trying to oust them. :) Must have been worth a few points in the stock price to them. Now if someone else offers 23, they still can't rightly refuse, can they?

Haven't heard CNBC mention VLSI yet.
