BB, The underwriters get a % (7% is sort of standard and a reason DoJ is looking into underwriting practices for price fixing) of what is floated only at the issue price, not entire market cap.

I would love to know how exactly the jam works without losing too much money. I suspect it is a narrow option buy on a select or the futures the herd gets lathered up and follows buying, then slowly bleed off the contracts you picked up. Kinda like what is done to individual issues.
