> A business cannot run and make sales without operations.

Incorrect. Assume a hypothetical company who's entire business was to increase their stock price. Operations are irrelevant. Profits and losses are irrelevant. Expenses are irrelevant.

Cashing in tens of millions of dollars in options by senior execs on this hypothetical company's operations is a VERY REAL profit from their "operations", whatever they may be.

The question is, would you pay $170 per share for a stake in the above company? And do you think that 5 years from now such a hypothetical company would be allowed to exist by securities regulators?
