OOTT: So where is the incentive? The article seems to be just a compilation of known facts and gives no insight as to why MSFT would be well advised to get into the low return common carrier business where they do not enjoy the benefit of T's near monopoly position. In fact it would be better for MSFT to cut a deal with T in order to promote the use of their content/systems on the T network. MSFT stands little to gain by supporting AOL (who as you might recall testified against MSFT in present anti-trust trial) in its attempt to establish a foothold in the cable industry. MSFT might only do this if it could extract certain concessions from AOL that would not be in the best interests of the gameplan that caused AOL to buy NSCP. No I for one do not see the synergy to be gained by MSFT cooperating with AOL in the acq. of MediaOne. Bad use of assets on MSFT's part if they do.
