Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on the door of the Wittenberg in 1517.

Actually, this is an urban myth. There is no contemporary evidence that Luther nailed the theses anywhere, let alone on the door of the Wittenberg. He did write them (but probably not all at one time), but no nailing. That appears to be one of the Washington-and-cherry-tree type legends.

Sorry. Makes a nice mythology, but doesn't appear to be true.
