I've taken part in many of these internet companies. Some of you might remember me from ZULU... where I supported it and then dumped it after I found out that there were some serious issues. I will now relate to you my serious issues with MXNT.Maxnet, Inc. is an integrated Internet Development Company focused on creating and expanding strategic alliances for its comprehensive network of consumer and business-oriented web services. Their mission is to revolutionize business marketing by combining the power of cooperative advertising with the phenomenal success of the internet so that their clients gain extraordinary opportunities for increased exposure, sales and revenue. OK, that's the mission statement from Fat Matt's web site. My family had a company very similar to this, with a similar amount of employees. He says Maxnet is no longer in computer products sales, and earlier this year acquired two other companies that are the focus of its business: a furniture retailer and the Webphonebooks.com on-line directory service. Neither is operating yet or generating revenues, but Mr. Val says he expects Maxnet to have sales of $12 million to $15 million a year by the end of 1999. Ah... question. What does this italicized paragraph have to do with the mission statement above? Furniture? Eh? People, I've pushed for KTWO, ZULU, DCLK (when it first came out), TFSM, and yes, I've learned a lot doing that, but it seems to me that these guys are just looking for something to do to justify the money they received from the sale of shares.Didn't MXNT say in their Auction PR that they would be adding, in additon to their other new technologies to their auction twist, an escrow service? Uh... this 30 person company, with all the web sites they have, want to start an auction aspect? Say what? You know how many people it takes to maintain an auction web site? Do they have operators handling the bids? Do they have suppliers? Do they have a shipping department? The only people i know that can pull it off without a hitch are the big boys: e-bay, warehouse, etc. Shady, if you ask me. But I need to know more about it to make a clear decision. As of right now, it sounds vaguely familiar to a company that doesn't have a clue what it's doing. Sincerely, The Corporation.
