Still waiting patiently for SKYT buyout.

SkyTel on the Block

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

According to sources, two-way paging telecommunications provider, SkyTel (SKYT) is on the auction block. Wireless messaging company SkyTel Communications Inc. posted first quarter profits in line with analysts' estimates Tuesday April 20. However, a slew of downgrades fell on the company after SkyTel announced that lower than expected subscriber growth will hurt earnings for the rest of the year.

The word on the Street is that a list of prospective buyers are already lined up with cash at SkyTel's doorsteps. Potential buyers, according to sources, include MCI WorldCom., one of the country's largest telecommunications companies, which presumably would be interested in SkyTel's nationwide two-way messaging network, telecom behemoth, AT & T (T), Bell Atlantic (BEL), and surprisingly IBM Corporation (IBM).

SkyTel closed at $17 per share on Tuesday.Shares are down significantly from the 52-week high of $28 7/8 per share.
