The problem I see is that anyone should be able to buy or short anything they want, in any quantity. If these interests are screwing with our national treasuries, that's quite another thing, because then they are using wealth that doesn't belong to them. Since these transactions are probably off the major exchanges, there aren't any position limits. That means we investors are expected to operate on a level playing field, but these institutions can circumvent the rules. If we remember what happened with the Hunt Brothers and silver, we can take heart. No one can control the free market indefinitely. The longer the manipulation continues, the larger will be the self-correcting mechanism when it occurs.
