Let see if I got the consensus Of the thread right. I should completely get out of what I have margined and wait till dell drops to twenty and then get in. I was beginning to believe that Dell was going to rise this week before earnings on the 18th. I don't know, I am just going to hang on and just wait and see. I haven't done so bad so far.

Larry;

Thanks for your concern. You are taxing my memory here. And though you may be posing rhetorical queries, I'll offer a response anyway. The doldrums during the period you mentioned were triggered because of problems with Dell's notebook pc's. If I remember correctly, there was also a class action against Dell over some ( perceived? ) financial shenanigans. I was caught off guard when the stock took the biggest hit. And if it makes you feel any better; yes, it felt like an overly aggressive cross-face had been applied(Kemble can explain this). However, as I was busy helping transform a mainframe world into a networked pc world, I just wasn't too concerned about the whole thing. During this time I was much more concerned with the effect the Clinton's were having on Merck and other Rx firms. At least Dell's future was to be determined by Dell....not by govt programs. I kept a grip on some shares and sold others to put into Compaq and Gateway( when they went public ). You know Larry, back then I did not follow Dell "activity" on a daily( hourly? ) basis.... So... just maybe that played to my advantage over the longer haul?
