I've read it repeatedly. Douglas Adams is one of the few writers who can make me laugh out loud. He has a uniquely skewed way of structuring sentences that never fails to impress me. The series was originally a BBC Radio show. The books were based on the show.

So, back on topic. I've read and appreciated your interpretations of Kosovo, but I still come away feeling that your view is somehow idealistic or naive. In light of the virtually undisputed failure of our current policies to accomplish any of our stated goals, and to cut to the chase, are our leaders gibbering idiots who just don't have the faintest understanding of the consequences of their actions, or is it all a part of some larger thing that we are not being told about. I apologize for putting this in such black and white terms, but the official line on Kosovo just doesn't hold water. I just don't see how any of this:

helps the Albanians,

threatens Milosevic,

or strengthens NATO.

As a matter of fact, I think it would be fair to say that this undeclared war has actually harmed the Albanians, strengthened Milosevic and weakened and discredited NATO. But I also recognize that my cynicism clouds my perceptions, so...
