Good morning Joe,
When you and your Wife are running or walking, please know MRS. BLUE and I are with you. If you have never been to a "Race for the Cure" you no doubt will be taken back by the event. The first thing I realized was how many people breast cancer effects. You're going to see a lot of families, a lot of "in memory" cards and I can tell you first hand, it will make a tough guy cry.
I guess the best part of the race for me is knowing you are not in this battle alone. Since you served your country I can tell you it is close to the feeling of when you are going in harms way. You know death may be waiting but not before a hell of fight with your pals and you. There is great comfort in knowing you don't fight alone.
There will be two types of tags to display of your back. Both are pink, one says "in celebration of...." the other "in memory of." This year for the first time MRS. BLUE and I will run with Rita's name on a "in memory of" card on our backs. As I promised long ago, Rita's battle was not lost to cancer, some of us are just fighting it for her now.
Thank you and God bless you and your Wife for doing your part.
Yer pal, BLUE

Howdy Joe, all of us are right (you're probably saying would never admit I'm wrong but hear me out...). I spoke too soon about closing the schools, sounded like I meant right now without giving it a chance for a short while...forgot to say this would be an emergency step IF threats and tragedies continue. Of course you and Dr. Lojiks are right about the need for all to go forward now without disruption to the lives and goals of students. The courage of all your nieces and their peers to ever step inside a school again is an inspiration. Yet,while it's natural to defend territory against an invader, when the safety of children is at stake the right thing would be to change the environment when a retreat and a new plan would be the best approach. If these daily incidents go on from here-2 choices - hang in there at risk and fight - or retreat and regroup for a new start next year. Probably an end to this will come to pass soon when those with bad ideas in mind see what happens to others that act on them, as you said.
But IF instead the nationwide terrorism in the schools doesn't abate then 7 weeks is too long a time to allow it to continue so an early summer closing would be best. An atmosphere of suspicion and hysteria isn't the right one for education anyway. IMHO give it a week if this continues, hope it stops today, and in either case hope the experts are successful with evaluations and solutions for the future.
Yer pal,
Joan
