I am seething with rage about nVidia. Looks like another failure to live up to hype .. and the industry will once again look the other way and laud stupid things like AGP texturing.

(this link good only today - it basically says that TNT2 will not ship at 183 MHz)

TigerInvestor.com has initiated coverage on 3dfx Interactive (TDFX) with a strong buy rating. You can find the research report here:

tigerinvestor.com

This is the perfect time to enter 3dfx and still get in at the bottom floor. With all this talk I've been doing about 3dfx it's about time I lay it on the line. Based on estimates of $3 per share for 1999 and a conservative PE of 15 I'm looking at 3dfx heading to $45 within the next 12 months. My estimates are heavily weighted in the 4Q of 1999 and so the accuracy of this estimate depends on the success of any new product releases. - TigerInvestor.com

To the esteemed monsieur Potter:

ATi proves that you don't need the best tech to win OEM contracts.

Right you are. ATI success is the key to understanding how the OEM industry works. I have a pet name for it, "silicon independent sales". The silicon needs only be good enough. I think that price has been THE primary factor in their rise to the top. Vertical integration has allowed them to produce low cost boards/chips and economies of scale have allowed them to press their momentum even further.

FYI, Dave Zacarias said that aside from the 4.5 million one-time expense that there will be a 2 million dollar quarterly hit for the acquisition for the next 18 months. I didn't follow up with what happens after the 18 months, but I wasn't really interested either. I figure I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Hope this helps for your analysis.
