Wireless Knowledge and Infowave sign strategic partnership agreement

Infowave Wireless Technology will be Incorporated
into Revolv Service Offering

MONTEREY, CA, Wireless Data Forum, May 3 /CNW/ - Wireless Knowledge LLC,
a joint venture company between Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) and QUALCOMM
Inc. (NASDAQ: QCOM), and Infowave Software, Inc. (VSE: IWM) today announced
plans to offer Infowave's wireless enterprise computing technology with
Wireless Knowledge's premier wireless data access service, Revolv(TM). The
addition of Infowave's technology will provide Revolv service users with
enhanced capabilities when using Microsoft(R) Outlook and Pocket Outlook on a
variety of wireless and mobile devices.
''Wireless Knowledge and Infowave share a commitment to bring true
convergence to the enterprise computing and wireless communications
industries,'' said John Major, president and CEO of Wireless Knowledge. ''This
partnership allows us to leverage Infowave's proven enterprise wireless
technology to expand the breadth of Revolv services available for mobile
professionals.''
Wireless Knowledge is focused on accelerating the adoption of wireless
communications and computing by providing mobile professionals with secure
access to key corporate information from any wireless or mobile device, over
any airlink, and from anywhere they travel. The Revolv service is the first
offering in a series of services that will enable mobile professionals to
remotely tap into their Microsoft Exchange collaborative computing environment
and have immediate access to email, contacts, calendar, news and other
important data.
Infowave's wireless technology will expand the Revolv service from
browser-based messaging to include the familiar Microsoft Outlook and Pocket
Outlook interfaces that are currently in use by more than 25 million corporate
Microsoft Exchange customers. The technology provided by Infowave replicates
the full-featured Microsoft Outlook desktop experience on a wireless device
and virtually eliminates user training.
''Providing a seamless, wireless interface to Microsoft Exchange-based
email and collaboration information will give Microsoft Exchange customers new
ways to enhance productivity, efficiency and competitiveness,'' said Dave
Malcolm, group product manager at Microsoft Corporation. ''We are excited that
Wireless Knowledge and Infowave are working together to enhance wireless
applications and create unique services for Exchange Server customers.''
''This is an exciting development for the Revolv service offering,'' said
Andy Seybold, a leading wireless industry analyst and publisher. ''As a mobile
professional, I will absolutely take advantage of the Outlook interface
provided by Infowave and I strongly believe that most Revolv subscribers will
feel the same way.''
''Infowave is a pioneer in the convergence of wireless and enterprise
computing technologies and the key to our early success has been our
technology leadership and strength of our partnerships,'' said Jim McIntosh,
Infowave's president and CEO. ''This agreement is very significant to Infowave
because of the leadership and credibility that Wireless Knowledge represents.
We are very excited to be working together to create solutions that contribute
to the advancement of wireless computing.''
The Revolv service is available now on an OEM basis to wireless carriers.
Commercial end-user availability from the first carrier partners is expected
in summer 1999. Wireless Knowledge has working relationships with a portfolio
of leading wireless carriers and is currently pursuing other strategic
alliances with computing, software and telecommunications companies.
