I would question that speculation. What would IBM gain by buying Sun ?

I think suns price would have to go down a lot before any one would buy into SunW. Not just IBM - but any of the large telecommunication companies must envy SunW as the distinctions become blurred. (AT&T, WCOM etc ... - you never know if jini does ever take off )

Suns got one advantage over IBM in that all the development software tools for creating internet sites (eg: Webservers , databases , 4GLs etc.. ) seem to cater for Solaris OR NT ( and more often now Linux.)
It could be that Sun will do to IBM in cyberspace what Microsoft did to IBM'S OS/2.
