I looked in the World Book, and it simply listed it as a variant spelling. I think I know what happened: There was a period of time when I was especially fond of reading 18th and 19th century British authors, and a few "Britishisms" creapt into my spelling. I still have a tendency to spell honor thus:honour....Anyway, Webster's is a dictionary dedicated to the American version of the English language, which probably accounts for the difference...

By the way, Bill, I appreciate the fact that you have noticed that I try to be scrupulous about that. I also am sure that you have never lied, just as I knew that when Les made some trivial error that Schuh jumped on a couple of months ago it was a casual and normal error, such as anyone might make.
