B. Long (like the screen name),

The way I see it, RNWK wants to be the "portal" of choice when the internet music scene becomes an everyday occurrence. Towards that, they are making it widely known that they will be compatible with as many of the audio codecs being thrown in the fray as possible; EPAC, MP3, LA, etc. The fact that EPAC is ALREADY compatible with G2 is good news PLUS the earlier LU news release. IMO, LU is setting the table to take over this market. The next 2-3 months should be most profitable for everyone involved...including us shareholders! :~)

Since it sounds as though RealNetwork's is willing to incorporate any major secure/compressed format, I'm curious why EPAC hasn't been added. It is always possible that they are holding out to release it later (as we very well know, news fuels momentum & adds support when momentum starts to fade). Or, could it be that to be added to the "RealSystem MP" support you have to fork over some royalty fees or sign a similar agreement (and maybe Lucent isn't yet willing to do such given they have a few tactical moves up their sleeves)?

After having read BuzzVA's comments I'm in complete agreement that becoming a distribution portal is RNWK's primary goal (as I stated previously) & it is very likely they will be adding EPAC. The question is when & at what costs.

"RealNetworks, Inc. (Nasdaq: RNWK), the recognized leader in the streaming media market, today announced they have teamed up to add Liquid Audio's music e-commerce capabilities to the new RealNetworks RealSystem MP digital music architecture."
