If FED looks into T eventually and breaks it up, it will be
5-10 years for a decision, can you wait that long?

That is called "great cycle of monopoly".
You may also call it "cycle of business karma".
Breakup won't occur till Government changes and they start initiating
DOJ probe.
If you remember T was broken during Reagan's term. But not sure
when the investigation or the process started.
Can anyone shed some light on the chronology behind T's break (till 1984)?
