Per YUK register Intel is suing them."

This is the first I have heard of it.

I'll look into it to see what it's all about.

Taiwan VIA Tech in licence agreement with Intel

TAIPEI, Nov 30 (Reuters) - Taiwan's VIA Technologies Inc said on Monday it had signed a licencing agreement with U.S. computer chip maker Intel (Nasdaq:INTC - news) to produce platform components for Pentium II processors.

Intel has agreed to give licencing rights to computer chipmaker VIA to produce Slot 1, a component which acts as an interface between the microprocessor and the personal computer, a company statement said.

Under the agreement, VIA will pay Intel royalties and grant Intel a licence under VIA's patents, it said.

The statement did not release the amount of royalties that would be paid or specify which VIA patents it would share with Intel.

Founded in 1987, VIA is scheduled to become a listed company on the Taiwan Stock Exchange in the first quarter of 1999.
