The Standard Storage Management Platform that evolves from the Project Storex Core Platform Expert Group will be the foundation for Jini based intelligent storage devices. This is good for the long term outlook of FC switched storage market. Not sure what it means to the near term push to standardize, we may be seeing parallel standards being implemented (Dell & NTAP fielding NDMP manageable devices) with eventual consolidation under Sun's OS independent Jini. That scenario would play right into Sun's hand. Thankfully Ancor seems to be straddling all the fences - no telling how things will play out in real time. BRCD is included in the larger alliance, but they are not part of the expert work group as is ANCR. Douglas
