Enam Luf,

AOL is in cahoots with Baby Bells like Bell Atlantic and SBC in the DSL camp. Their new worry should be AT&T, @Home, and now MediaOne in the cable modem camp, as AOL has no leverage in that sector whatsoever.

It's much easier to migrate POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) users using AOL to the DSL technology than to the cable infrastructure. The installed base is very small in broadband right now, so this is the time to go for the jackpot, which is what AT&T is trying to do with the MediaOne acquisition.

The Broadband War will be a lot of fun to watch, unlike the Kosovo Conflict. No matter what the outcome, the consumer should end up being the ultimate winner.
