Finally! I read what I've been thinking all along. MSFT aligning itself with AT&T could be a natural at this point. SUN has partnered with AOL which will be AT&Ts major competitor after this deal - although AOLs broadband strategy is still somewhat unknown and anything can happen. The SUN thread is basking in the glow of an article that states AT&T will go with SUN's tech for set-top. Why would they do this now that SUN is AOLs partner?

And why does everyone assume AT&T and MSFT won't partner together in some fashion? AT&T could use a partner like MSFT for broadband. They would bring both software and Net content to the table.

I am a SUN and MSFT long but if things did turn out this way I don't see AOL+SUN as any match for AT&T + MSFT. I still think that SUN may have done itself a disservice with this deal with AOL. SO much yet to be seen though...
