Why in the world would anyone say something like this? "If I owned a company looking to make a call center decision, and were perhaps under the impression that what's out there today represents some kind of next-generation architecture, I would stand pat and not make a major call center purchase until I understood what Cisco was doing." John C. Thibault, President and CEO of GeoTel the day after the announcement. Do they have an immediately competitive product to that of Aspect? Obviously not. So they are playing for time. But the early adaptors of ASPT's technology will have a competitive edge of about 6 months over their rivals in whatever space they occupy. That's why Aspect has been building their sales force and now has 2500 employees, way up from last year at this time. Aspect is first to market and that's a huge advantage with a new technology. The management of this company is superb!! Once they get the technology, Aspect's competitors will still have the problem of getting a sales force up and running. Aspect has that NOW! Will you hear that from an analyst? No. They are only telling their private clients like the 260 institutions that own 93.5% of Aspect's stock. Incidentally, I tried to add to my position today @7 1/2 and 7 5/8. Even though the stock hit those prices after my orders were in, they did not fill 1 share. I think that the market makers are just playing pass the parcel and there really isn't much stock out there for sale. Maybe an institution or two is giving up some stock so that the price doesn't take off before they get some frustrated sellers. But what happens if ASPT makes a big announcement? What happens if the man on the street gets wind of this situation? Buy the dips. Or at least try!
