Does anybody think that Sepracor is only worth one sixteenth of Amgen's market value? I am really tempted to short Amgen and use the proceeds to buy more SEPR.

I don't know, I don't use stops. But my naive feeling is that people who bought the last dip may have put stops in at round numbers about 10% below their price, so that might explain the heavy action around 80, 79 and 78 that was apparent on quote.com.

But you might be right too that the stops were for shorts, only that the price fell right through, suggesting they were sales.

Take a look at quote.com -- there are two form T trades at 80 7/16, one for 25,000 shares and the other for 31,500 shares, time stamps 16:06:36 and 16:05:19 respectively.
