Trader J or anyone with an answer

I would like to know how this trade would work.

I buy 100 shares @ 10. Two weeks later I buy 100 more @ 20. I then sell 100 shares @ 15. My question is which shares did I sell?

Is it FIFO (first in, first out so its the 10) or is it LIFO ( last in, first out so its 20). This is a very important question when figuring the profit or loss. One way the sale is a profit while the other is a loss. TIA

zora

TJ and friends: Just wanted to point out that this thread is by far the classiest on SI. Everyone here is usually extremely courteous to each other - beyond civil. You should all be proud.

I usually lurk - though I occasionally throw out an idea or question to TJ or Triffin - and have been migrating around to other threads of late.

I can only say that, after seeing how little basic courtesy is shown by so many SI posters towards each other, it's no longer a matter of respect - but more about open hatred...

I'm sorry to ramble but this makes me very sad. We should all realize how fortunate we are...

Trader J,

I want just to give you my opinion. I think that the inets are overestimated even if they dropped. According to me, it is only one question of time so that this situation is corrected. I would be carried to believe that there are other sectors which were very badly treated this year, and should remake surface.

I think in particular of the company of software which lowered their sale because of problem Y2K, but now I believe that they will start again in the medium term, because the largest companies already spent what one needed for resolve them.

Thanks, Nicole
problême. They will be able to thus think of being directed in order to better serve
their customers.

This is right a personal opinion, I would on top like to have your opinion.
