That is because market was afraid of a bidding war. When AT&T acquires Media One, the stock will shoot up.

Market hates uncertainty is one of the reasons of stock price decline. Also, there appears to be a rotation occuring whereas the 'widows and orphans' are trading thier T shares for something more conservative while the aggressive internet types are trying to digest this 'new balance of power'

Just my opinion, mind you.
