S.A.M. and all, The Delta launch team is assembled at Cape Canaveral Air Station, Fla., for the Tuesday, May 4, launch of a Boeing Delta III carrying the Orion 3 satellite. The launch window for Tuesday evening spans from 8:56 to 10:04 p.m. EDT. Hughes Space and Communications built the 4 1/2-ton satellite, which Loral Space & Communications will own and operate. The satellite will provide telecommunications services to the Asia-Pacific region. Launch Day Media Activities Remote Camera Setup Photographers who wish to set up remote cameras for the launch should meet at Pass & ID, CCAS, South Gate at 9 a.m. EDT, May 4. Launch Viewing To view the launch, accredited media should meet at Pass & ID at 7:30 p.m. EDT. Be prompt; the road to the press site will be closed prior to launch. Live Video Feed and Webcasting Boeing and Loral will broadcast the launch live at 8:40 p.m. EDT. The Ku-band transmission will be on: Telstar 5, Transponder 3 lower, at 97 degrees West longitude with vertical polarization. The downlink frequency in RF-Band is 11.778 GHz or L-Band 1028 MHz. English audio will be carried on 6.2 MHz left and Korean on 6.8 MHz right. Video streaming can be accessed via the Internet at: (www.boeing.com). Post-Launch Media Teleconference Boeing will host a post-launch media teleconference at 9 a.m. EDT the day after a successful launch.
