MCI,Nextel Seen Calling Off Deal If Not Reached This
Wk:CNBC
NEW YORK -- Officials from MCI Worldcom Inc. (WCOM) and Nextel Communications Inc. (NXTL) have been
unable to agree on the price of a merger, and if a deal isn't reached this week, the companies are
likely to call off the merger talks, CNBC's David Faber reported Monday.

Officials from the two companies met during the weekend, Faber said.

MCI Worldcom is arguing that Nextel should accept one half an MCI share for each share of Nextel,
Faber said.

Merger talks between the companies were first reported last month.<<
