Scott, I agree those ambiguous statement tend to hurt companies as we are left guessing if it is significant or not. If they must comment, don't do it on the day of earnings and if it is important, be more specific. Obviously the acquisition gave them a big boost, but without one next time the jump won't be so explosive - if that is what PVAT means, then they should say it. If there will be more dilution because of the warrant call, then they should say so. Some companies seem to have no PR concept, e.g. BARR in the past.
