Alex, Anand rates the Celeron 333 as the WORST Intel CPU for overclocking. My experience parallels his (I run mine at 375MHz).

anandtech.com

Having owned and overclocked just about every chip made until they went past 333MHz, I have to say that overclocking is NOT worth the effort. You'll need an extra-large case and an extra-large fan and it still may overheat. To get the best prices, you'll have to buy everything from different sources. The guy who sells the CPU adds postage and handling. The case dealer does the same. He won't include the extra case fans which you'll have to hunt down somewhere else. And you'll pay for an extra-large CPU fan and that nasty postage and handling again. Then, when it only runs at rated speed, you'll have nothing but a large stack of VISA receipts to admire (assuming you don't fry the chip or your hard drive in the process).

Overclocking is a macho thing for guys with deep pockets and lots of spare time. If all you want is bragging rights it's a lot easier to go around with rocks attached to your penis* than to get an Intel CPU over 500MHz.

When you can buy a CeleronA 466 for $170 or a PII/400 for $210, why mess around? For all practical purposes, they are fast enough.

Craig

*There are African tribes who really do this. You end up with a really long male appendage that functions erratically, if at all. Kind of like an overclocked CPU.

Alex,

I've sent you a private message in the effort to get back to discussion about NSM. For the rest of you I recommend overclockers.com

Anyway, I read on yahoo that NSM options volume is up like 20X. Anybody follow what this means?

Darren

Good volume and price changes this morning...
