The much touted Cisco enabled Sprint IO Network is in deep do-do. They were supposed to have rolled out services in 25+ cities by now but has anyone seen anything ? No. Now we hear that Cisco has killed their supposed "GX-550 Killers" (did we not hear that for their RAS offerings which have failed miserably in unseating Ascends TNT). My only fear is that this love MM have for Cisco could fade very quickly when their future revenue growth is in question. People say that they are Kings of Routers. UUnet and 9 others are testing Juniper routers and Ascend will unveil in June 99 their GRF-II which is faster and COMPATIBLE with existing Cisco routers. With all this uncertainty the question they should ask is a PE of 60+ justified ? But then love is blind only till a gap down opens their eyes. -Hitesh
