I whole heartedly agree that this situation should have been lightened with some laughter, (AND should have been over and done
with on April 1st,) but my sense is that Business Wire got their feathers ruffled in their subsequent dealings with Janice, Jeff and Bill. Especially with the accusations that they had engaged in fraudulent activities.

But you need to understand that a complaint, particularly in a case like this, is basically a propaganda piece, not necessarily a truth piece.

Truth vs. propaganda. Determining the difference between the two is my definition of "due diligence".
