>but the stock price is languishing b/c of the Democratic Party obsessiveness.

correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe Republican Senator Orin Hatch is in support of this trial as well. Novell is based in Utah. I don't think it's a Dem or Rep thing, but a government thing.

my 2 cents

I used to say MSFT was overpriced 5 yrs ago (high PE) so did not buy it. I came from the Unix enviroment (BS in Computer Science 93) and sort of like challenging. I did install Linux for fun. After a while I realize that people like something easy to use, Unix and Linux are difficult for an average person, not for me.

Everytime MSFT dropped, 5/98 and 1/98, I wanted to load some but did not have enough fund. I remember last year when the DOJ started, people were panic, it was on the headline everywhere, even a (dummy) person, a clerk at the Mall heard about the name Microsoft, but those news went away pretty quickly.

I am loading up this time since I've been selling some Internut stocks to buy MSFT. Besides its large cash, no longterm debt, good financial ratio, and the most important thing is, less than 1% of US popution have a BS in Computer Science/Engineer related, the rest of 99% would not want to learn to use Unix command. Personally, I still like Unix and Sun but UNFORTUNATELY I (must) use win. The last time I run X terminal was my senior year, now I use Unix about once a week.

Anyone who is panic and has made enough $ with MSFT then sell it. Most of my engineer friends used not to own MSFT b/c we think its product buggy sometimes (The more you know, the less you made:-). Now, we all waiting for the DOJ to resume so we can invest our money in MSFT, and save time to write Java applet.

Blankmind,

I disagree. Also a long-term holder, BTW. I hope you are not implying that I am a day trader of it -- I merely add to the postion on dips when I have cash available.

Worked there as well, and I can assure you there are more than a few liberals in their employ.

My tendencies, though liberal, are not the issue. It is the Gore bashing to which I take offense. The trial would have happened under a Republican administration as well. I can't understand how you can judge a man based on your interpretation of one narrow issue. Assuming you are correct (for the remainder of this paragraph only), is there not more to life than increasing stock value? Is any action that a man takes to be judged based soley upon what it supposedly does to a stock's price?

The government trial has not hurt the MSFT stock price. I don't know what your idea of "languishing" is. (I guess AOL has been languishing for the past year as well, by your definition.) The only negative in the trial, aside from a bit of cash outlay, is the focus it removes from running the day-to-day business. If the stock seems to have slowed the past few weeks, let me suggest some more reasonable alternatives to your Democratic conspiracy theory.
- It went up too fast,
- The tech stocks came down a bit,
- Y2K is on the horizon,
- Interest rates moving the wrong way,
- Nothing goes straight up.

This stock has a history of taking rests. It did so for several months back in 1993. I'm sure you remember, if you are indeed a long-term holder.

At least we both have the same taste in stocks. <g>

Respectfully,
