for American Mobile's eLink wireless email service

New Wireless Handheld Device Keeps Mobile Professionals Connected With
Email and Personal Organizer Applications; Operates Over the Nationwide

WATERLOO, ON, May 4 /CNW/ - Research In Motion Limited (NASDAQ: RIMM,
TSE: RIM) today announced the new RIM Inter(at)ctive(TM) Pager 850 for the
eLink(SM) wireless email service (also introduced today) from American Mobile
Satellite Corp. (NASDAQ: SKYC). The RIM Inter(at)ctive Pager is the industry's
leading line of two-way pagers and offers major advantages including wearable
size, light weight, low-latency network connectivity, higher performance,
extended functionality and optimized usability.
The RIM Inter(at)ctive Pager 850 allows mobile professionals to send and
receive email and messages, as well as synchronize their schedule, tasks and
contacts with their PC. It operates on American Mobile's nationwide ARDIS
network in the United States. In addition to offering advanced two-way
messaging services, the eLink wireless email service allows millions of
business and consumer users with standard POP3 compliant email systems to
extend their desktop email to the RIM Inter(at)ctive Pager 850. American
Mobile also announced today that SkyTel (NASDAQ: SKYT) will resell eLink and
the RIM Inter(at)ctive Pager 850.

The RIM Inter(at)ctive Pager 850 will be available through American
Mobile, SkyTel and American Mobile distributors. American Mobile's suggested
retail price for the eLink package, including the Inter(at)ctive Pager 850,
cradle and desktop synchronization software, will be $359, with an unlimited
monthly airtime agreement available for $59.95.
