I am sure you will agree with me that the figures mentioned by you was in keeping with the investor sentiment against Internet stocks prevalent at the time when Yahoo, AOL and AMZN announced their earnings. I think you are trying to imply that a stock would drop following earnings announcement and that PCLN would do the same.

The overall investor sentiment has surely helped. However, I am pretty sure that they would have gone down irrespective of the sentiment (maybe by a lower % figure).

In fact, I think the investor sentiment for the internets might not be the cause of this slide but rather the effect.

I am not so sure about the others (I follow them less actively), but YHOO has sold off after every earnings report for several quarters. In fact, you will notice that YHOO starts its move up from 1 month before the earnings report due-date and this rally usually ends when the report is out.

As we do not have historical data on PCLN, we can only speculate at this point. We don't have to wait long to find out if my theory is valid when it comes to PCLN.

Regards.
