Gary,

>> The TGX was positioned more into the core - an area which Cisco does a lousy job of competing today. <<

Interesting because the CORE is where Lucent makes it's big money. Did you see the Bell Atlantic news this month about Nortel and Alcatel winning a 5 years contract for the edge? The Edge is where Cisco is strong? Where is their DLC solution, which is critical for the edge network? Cisco isn't even a player in this space.

So Cisco does a lousy job in the Core, I don't see them with an edge DLC solution, so where does Cisco fit in the Carrier space, excluding router?

>> TGX-8750 functionality is available in other Cisco products including the MGX and that the need for the TGX is redundant <<

Nice way to say they failed at the TGX-8750. Nothing like having a BIG news release in June98 on this product, then canceling it.

The MGX isn't going to compete against the ASND Core ATM switch. This is the point Lucent posters should understand. When you cancel a product which would have competed against your MAIN competitor, I call that a failure. If Cisco fans can't understand this, oh well.
