If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with b.... What I'm trying to say is one does not need to time right at the dead top or rock bottom to squeeze out acceptable gains of 2x to 3x in two years. Buying/selling within 6 months of bottom/top will do. Unless one is a good trader, thing to avoid is the temptation to get involved with the middle. Hard to make money 'investing' long term in the middle. I first got involved at $24 Aug. '98. If I just blindly sell at Aug. 2000, I bet you I can get 2x to 3x. And that should also qualify me for long term capitol gains too, unlike trading. After selling, if I just go away for another 2 years, bet you I can buy it back at <$20 a share again and ride it back to $60. But the next round might not be LSI though. Does not matter, just find a company with sound business fundamentals and 'ride the wave'. Confession - this is the first time I am riding the cycle, on the way up I hope. Never had any money to play with till now. Don't think this way will make the most gains e.g. zero gains during down years. But hopefully it will be painless and without much risk. As when LSI went from $24 to $12, I didn't like it, but wasn't too overly alarmed - the company had a sound business. patrick
