Excellent article, Mr.Pink.

It's incredible that people like that are still running publicly held companies.

A couple of personal notes, from a product standpoint:

I got a bottle each of the Mane & Tail shampoo and conditioner as a gift from my well-meaning mother as I started grad school. Today I find the "rapid hair growth" claim quite ironic, given that the effect it had on me was rather the opposite -- rather alarmingly large hair clumps appeared in the drain consistently after use. Needless to say, I discontinued use of that brand rather quickly. I think I still may have the bottles lying around, though I may have thrown them out when I moved.

More amusing was the a bit of labelling of the shampoo. Remember that this product was primarily developed for use on horses. Given that, I found the faddish disclaimer "We Never Test On Animals" rather odd. Why would you use it on your horse if it's never been tested on one?
