Greetings to All,

Have been a lurker on this thread for some time and have seen a lot of suppositions as to what is going to happen. However, to me this smells like a friendly take over. To me, the logical contender is AOL. First, they do a friendly takeover of Netscape and with that they acquire the entire messaging systems, browser and server technology and distribution. The logical next step is to acquire some ip telephony backbone that in addition also has a large footprint in the pc to phone and phone to phone marketplace. Thus, with the acquisition of a company like IDTC, AOL metamorphosizes into a telco. In this vein, for AOL, IDTC also makes sense from a corporate culture integration point through their relationship with Netscape. If this is the case, my bet is that management will stay on with AOL to manage the IP telephony segment of the business. Management is very tight lipped right now, which would be in keeping with a scenario such as this.

These are just my humble thoughts.
