Thanks for all your replies.

I believe the merger of BA and McDonell Douglas was
going to result to a more monopolistic company as compared
(at the time of the merger)to possibly ATHM and RR and yet
the FTC allowed it.

The last posting by Rtev made it clear that the merger was
encourage by the gov't to reduce cost for gov't projects.
