Hi Ken - DWDM is a hotly contested area. While I ve never owned any position in CIEN and LU, I ve followed the news coming out of both with curiosity. CIEN was the darling of the street by having the market almost by itself with a 40 channel product. Its downfall came when LU frontran its 80 channel product. Now, NT is leapfrogging them both. The beauty is that NT is now ahead of its scheduled release with a 160 channel product.

The significance is more than bandwidth expansion. It should have a pretty good synergistic effects on other products, like the softwares designed to harnass DWDM power etc.

best, Bosco
