P-Com, Inc. Announces OEM Agreement With NEC America, Inc.
CAMPBELL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 6, 1999--P-Com, Inc. (Nasdaq/NMS:PCMS - news), a leading manufacturer of millimeterwave radios, announced today an agreement with NEC America, Inc. (NEC), Radio Communications Systems Division, to private-label high frequency, low capacity digital microwave radios in order to expand NEC's product line for use in the United States and Canada.

The new series consists of 18GHz, 23GHz and 38GHz bands. This new product line incorporates significant advancements in modular design and functionality featuring a new compact Indoor Unit (IDU) and Outdoor Unit (ODU) with enhanced features that include line interface, digital multiplexing, alarms and diagnostics, service channel and network management interfaces.
Additionally, the new product line features enhanced software allowing downloadable field upgrades and an optional embedded SNMP agent for advanced network management capabilities. These features and enhanced capabilities make it the ideal solution for networks operated by mobile service providers, Internet Service Providers (ISP), utilities, public telephone operators, local governments and corporate users.
P-Com has agreed to work within NEC's standards and policies for performance and quality, which includes honoring a 3-year standard warranty, and providing engineering and repair services, training, and 24 hour technical support to end users. NEC will be the primary service provider, and will be responsible for all aspects of equipment, technical assistance and product support.
