ToySoldier,John F. Dowd, and RTev,

You guys were in the news.

Big guns pointing at Microsoft?

Weekend reports that an IBM (IBM: news, msgs) executive may take the stand and testify against Microsoft in the government's antitrust case was fodder for Monday discussion at SiliconInvestor. ToySoldier ..."Finally, a prominent directly affected industry organization with some guts is going to speak on behalf of the DOJ's case. I guess it takes a company the size of IBM to step forward and speak on behalf of the other industry players that are too scared to testify against Microsoft for fear of retaliation. This announcement will not bode well for Microsoft stock price." John F. Dowd ..."IBM has been orchestrating this whole event from the start. They, as do most corps, have great memories and they are still smarting from how they were outflanked by Microsoft over the past 10 years. This announcement is two days old. I doubt that another whiner on the side of DOJ is going to make a difference. The present value of Microsoft is a great opportunity....to get into this great company at a discount of nearly 20 percent. " RTev ..."Aha. Epiphany. It's all becoming much clearer now. IBM is behind it all. But we've also learned from (another board poster) that the DOJ is a communist outfit. So now, I figure that must mean that IBM - the ringleader in this whole thing - is just a communist front organization. Is that the way it goes? And I know that aliens have to fit in here somewhere, but I'll wait to find out about their nefarious machinations."

Stick around RTev. We're sure there's a message board somewhere just for investors worried about corporate manipulation by aliens.

My contact at the top of Msft says they never restricted PC makers on using another browser and that msft's fight with the doj is simply about their right to innovate. I had urged him to settle at all costs.

I think they overwork the word "innovation".They get taken in by their own spin. The doj doesn't really want to get into the design business.

If Bill G had any horse sense he would SETTLE! I just bought some June 80 calls and hope they do settle. They need to focus on ATT and Media One and broadband access. Come to think of it though...I wouldn't want them to dilute the stock with a huge offer.
