I've heard some rumors that DSL degrades as the number of users increase due to crosstalk in the wire bundles.

I'm still convinced the eventual winner will be largely decided on price and rollout rate. AOL has nicely demonstrated that lousy service and performance are not critical factors.

re: 3com as modem provider. I think they have focused on DOCIS compatible systems. They should do well once the cable focus shifts to buy your own modem (no truck roll). This requires USB modems since the average user isn't going to open the box to add a nic.
