Maybe that is what causes the down spike in these things....broker pays 50 cents on a dollar pop!

Why would a daytrader get a margin call? In order to get a margin call, one is required to take a margined position home overnight. Anyone who takes a position (margined or not) home is not getting a margin call from daytrading.
