I agree with you. I had a kind of similar experience with couple of good tech companies (with bad relation with the street folks) but not
to the extent of giving them shovel. I learned that if you want to be
a long term investor a few important things to keep in mind:
1) Invest in blue chip or leaders and
2) Those companies that are in good favour with the street
(even if you don't like them at least show them a consistent
earning trend.) Note that street's motto is "show me money".
3) Generally a positive economic condition.
Of course you can make money in small and upcoming ones but you got to
be more time sensitive and have to a constant vigil.
